The Class Progress tool lets you keep track of your students’ progress for course work like modules, quizzes, and assignments, providing an overview of their progress in your course.
View Class Progress (Written Instructions)
To view Class Progress:
- Navigate to Class Progress on the course homepage. You can also go to the Course Admin tab on your navigation bar to access Progress.
- Content Completed shows a learner’s progress for all your course modules.
- Quizzing is a learner’s scores for your course’s quizzes.
- Grades shows a learner’s score for different grade items in your course like assignments.
- If you click on each category for a learner, you are taken to a new page that shows a breakdown of the learner’s class progress by module, discussion post, assignments, quizzes, and more.
Use and Modify User Progress (Written Instructions)
Customize the User Progress report to easily track learners’ performance.
To Monitor Class Progress:
- Under User Progress, a user’s progress is summarized across as many as nine indicators. To view more information about a user’s performance, expand each section.
- Where applicable, box plot graphs display information about a user’s performance in relation to their peers on items with assessments attached. The bracketed area represents the range of grades assigned to users, the blue bar represents the middle range of grades, and the black dot represents this user’s performance. Your feedback and assessment are visible in this section by clicking Feedback.
- To collapse the section, click it.
- Hover over bar graphs to get more information.
- You can also hover over the user information area to email or message the user.
To create a report of User Progress:
- Select a report from the report list area to learn more about a user’s progress with respect to a single indicator.
- To modify which indicators are included in User Progress, click Settings.
- Uncheck an indicator to exclude it’s report from User Progress.
- Navigate to Progress Report Information Settings.
- Here, you can choose to whether to display the box plot graphs for graded items.
- You can also choose whether to display the user’s potential final grade range.
- Additionally, you can customize the Color Indicators that display throughout Class and User Progress.
- NOTE: Changes made to this page apply to all users in the course.
- Click Save and Close.
How to Monitor Class Progress (Written Instructions)
- From the Organizational Homepage, select the desired course using the My Courses widget or the Course Selector icon at the top right of the page.
- From your course level navbar, select Class Progress to access the Class Progress tool.
- NOTE: You can also access the Class Progress tool through the Course Admin link if you don’t have the Class Progress link on your navbar.
- Class Progress allows faculty to easily review student progress across multiple metrics in one convenient dashboard. You can access individual student data, select progress indicators for more detailed information, and hover over students’ thumbnails to communicate through email or instant message. Students also have access to their own personal progress dashboard.
- To edit your Class Progress dashboard, click the Settings gear in the top-right corner to configure your dashboard
- Select the drop-down menu beside each progress tracker to reorder your dashboard or replace it with different progress metrics
- Once configured, select Save and Close
- To further explore all ten-method categories found in the progress summary, select a student’s name next to their thumbnail or the specific metric category.
- To reach out to a student directly from the Class Progress tool, simply hover over the student’s profile image and click Send Email or Send Instant Message.
