Create Course Content (Written Instructions) 

To create course content:

  • From the Organizational Homepage, select the course in which you would like to add or create content using the My Courses widget or the Course Selector at the top of the page. 
  • From your course level navbar, select Content to access the Content tool. 
  • There are two ways you can add content, either directly or from your computer as external files.  
  • To add external files from your computer using Drag & Drop, select the module to which you you want to add content. 
  • Select the files from your computer to import into Brightspace. Drag and drop those files into the module.  
  • To add external files from your computer, select the Upload/Create drop-down menu, select Upload Files, select files from your computer, and select Open.  
  • To create new content in Brightspace, select the Upload/Create drop-down menu and select Create a File. 
  • From here, fill out document file details in the Brightspace Editor. 
  • You may wish to use the Select a Document Template menu to view the available premade file templates. 
  • Use the Brightspace Editor to format your file.  
  • Click Save and Close to review and publish your file.  
  • You can review the completed file and scroll down to add additional configurations.  
  • You can set Visibility options, as well as Add Dates and Restrictions.
  • You can navigate back to your Content tool for further file creation or course setup using the breadcrumbs at the top-left of the page found under the navigation bar.  

Create a File and Insert Stuff (Written Instructions) 

Create new topics right in your course and Insert Stuff such as, images, videos, or other objects into the topic. 

You will need to Insert Stuff within a module or submodule. To create a new topic in a Module or Sub-module and how to insert stuff into that topic:

  • Begin by creating a new topic in a sub-module.  
  • Click Upload/Create.  
  • Select Create a File.  
  • Give your file a title.  
  • Enter your content.  
  • To insert videos or images, into your topic, click Insert Stuff.  
  • Click on the location where you will search for an item.  
  • Select the item you would like to use and click Next.
  • Click Insert.  
  • When you are ready, click Save and Close to make the topic available in your course.
